I wanted to write this message as a way yo help you showcase your leadership to the best of your ability. A leader is a person that wishes to bring out the very best in others and help them grow in both knowledge and experience. Anyone can become a leader with the proper training and motivation to do so.😁
Use this message as a way to encourage yourself into becoming the best leader you can be. Here are my 5 tips for doing just that!
Tip #1. Start off by telling your story.📖 Let the listeners understand more about you and how you came to where you are now. This is a great way of gaining their attention and help them to become invested in you and what you have to offer. Storytelling can also have many other benefits like teaching others how to solve problems and explaining what worked and what didn’t work for you. Practicing this format will also improve your conversational and problem solving skills simultaneously.
Tip #2. Help others to understand their own strengths.💪 We all have our fair share of strengths and weaknesses, and as a leader it is important to be able to take the action to help others to develop those strengths, as well as improve upon and learn from their weaknesses. Let’s say you were observing one of your workers and notice they were exceeding in one area of their job, but also they were struggling in another area. Make an effort in helping them by arranging a workload that plays more in favor to their strengths.
Tip #3. Trying new things.💡 While the majority of leadership is consisting of smart decision making by following the elements of familiarity, predictability, and standard procedures, it is also important to try new things too. For example, you can impliment new ideas for products, or new marketing strategies. By being open to those new ideas, you can help develop the next big thing that influences the world. Leaders aren't afraid to take those risks for developing new ideas, because they are confident in themselves and the knowledge they have learned to help them in being successful.
Tip #4. Be involved.👥 Know that leadership doesn't come naturally to people. Some leaders may been born leaders, but most leaders are created through a series of circumstances and a passion for their great work. Let that help guide you when speaking with the ones you are overseeing. Think of the show Undercover Boss, where the boss goes undercover and sees how their company is being ran on the lowest level. Learning about everyone will give you an idea of how you can work on improving your leadership to them and being able to hear their likes and dislikes about their jobs and what they feel will make it better. Never allow yourself to climb the top of the corporate ladder so high that you can no longer see what's going on at the bottom of it. Be involved to all, not just some.
Tip #5. Always be humble.🤝 Never get a big ego. Leaders are to be respected, not to be described as jerks. Start with gratitude. Be thankful for those that are helping you, and always thank them for the effort they put into their work. Leaders also need to always show up when they say they are going to show up. After gratitude, keep trying to build yourself and those working alongside of you up in a positive way. Reward them for their time and dedication, and treat yourself for yours as well. Hard work does deserve to be praised and respected.
