🧔HAPPY FATHER'S DAY EVERYONE🧔
Father's Day is the perfect day to show our Father's our appreciation and love.💕
I wanted to share with you a little bit of fun history of Father's Day. Did you know that here in America, Father's Day was founded by a woman named, Sonora Smart Dodd? She was the daughter of an American Civil War Veteran named, William Jackson Smart. She had a close bond with her father, and when she ended up hearing a church sermon about Mother's Day (newly recognized at the time), she felt that fatherhood needed a day of recognition as well.👏
She determinedly went to speak with the Spokane Ministerial Alliance, and even suggested the day to be celebrated on her father's birthday, June 5th, as way of dedicating it to him. The Alliance ended up choosing the third Sunday of June, instead.
The first Father's Day was celebrated June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington. But it wasn’t officially declared a holiday until 1966, when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a presidential proclamation for it.✍ Then, in 1972, President Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the 3rd Sunday in the month of June every year.
Father's Day is also held on various days in many parts of the world, throughout the year. Some being in the months of March, May and June. In several Catholic countries of Europe they have been celebrating Father’s Day as Saint Joseph’s Day, March 19th, since the Middle Ages.
I wanted to take a moment to write a little message to my own father as well:
To my Dad,
Thank you for being my Dad, for all the love and support. May this Father's Day be a joyful one to you and all the father’s around the world.
To my Grandfather Joe,
Thank you for being a fatherly figure in my life, you helped bring out the best in me. I hold onto so many fond and cherished memories of you, and even though our time together was cut short, it still holds the biggest place in my heart. From memories of you and I playing guitar together, to playing cards and touching the red Buddha statue for good luck; the little memories means so much. I miss you and even though I can no longer see you, I know you are still with me in spirit.
All My Love,
Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's, Granddad’s, Soon to be Dad's or even siblings stepping up in a fatherly role.👍 May you all feel loved and appreciated.
Enjoy this day, do something special together with your family and make your father feel extra special.🥰
