๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ Dodo: Fried Plantains & Darcy’s Sweet Fried Bananas ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

One of my amazing fans, VALENTINE OYEDIPE, asked me if I could make an African recipe as my next Darcy’s Delights. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธAs I thought about it, I went online and learned about some delicious African dishes.

The one that stuck out that I wanted to share with you today was DODO, (Fried Plantains.) I love this recipe sinceย it reminded me of my own fried banana recipe. So I am going to share both ways of making delicious banana๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ flavored treats since the DODO is savory and mine is sweet. Feel free to make the one you like best! ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒย RECIPE#1 DELICIOUSย DODO! ย ย ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Total Time to Make :22 min / Makesย 2 servings
Ingredients

2 large ripe plantains (yellowish red colored)
Salt
Olive oil

Directions

Rinse the plantains in cold water. Peel them, and slice horizontally then vertically into half-moon shapes about 3/4-inch wide. Sprinkle with salt, to taste.

Pour oil into the frying pan and heat on medium-high. When oil is hot enough, add the plantains in batches; don’t overcrowd them.

Fry plantains until they are a golden brown. Drain on a plate covered in paper towels. Taste and season again with salt if needed.

Here are a few plantain factsย so you can say you learned something new today:ย 

  • Plantains are NOT bananas, although they are related to the banana they are not suitable to eat raw and must me cooked.
  • A regular banana is ready to eat when the peel is yellow, however a plantain is considered ready to eat when the peel is black or almost black
  • Plantains are a good source of potassium, vitamin A & C. They are also high in fiber and used as an energy booster!

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒย RECIPE#2 DARCY’S SWEET BANANAS! ย ย ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Total Time to Make :15 min / Makesย 2 servings
Ingredients

2 large ripeย bananasย ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ
Butter
Honey
Cinnamon

Directions

Peel the bananas, and slice them into little round circles.

Heat frying pan on high heat. Melt 1/4 stick of butter into the frying pan.ย Add a layer of bananas into the pan.

Pan fry the bananasย until they are a golden brown.ย Add cinnamon to taste while cooking. Put them on a plate. Add honey to sweetenย and enjoy! ( I like to add a little whipped cream on top as well if you want it as a tasty dessert!)MMMMMM! YUM YUM!!!๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

    These seem like really healthy treats and snacks. Never tried plaintains before….unsure where i can get them. I could try going to different produce areas to see if I can see if any has them.

  2. Excellent recipe my DARCY I prepare them almost the same but I use banana male, I make sweet I make identical the whole procedure, only that in the end I open condensed milk and mmmm very tasty ..,
